Today the little groundhog crawled out of his hole and determined whether we need to get bikini ready or if we can hold off on shaving our legs for another 6 weeks. I don’t know about y’all but I’ll take the sun and a bikini over more cloudy days in a heartbeat.
This tradition started in about the 18th century in Europe as a German celebrated holiday. If the little fur ball, named Phil who is quit cute I must say, comes out on a cloudy day it means we are on the fast track to sipping piña coladas by the pool and shopping Saturday markets with our fav Patty Reed bag. If it’s a sunny day, and he sees his shadow, he runs back into his hole and we have another 6 week break from selected personal grooming practices.
Now there’s good news and bad news. Bad news: Phil saw his shadow at 7:20am this morning EST. Good news: He’s not as accurate as your local weather man. Apparently since its recorded beginning there have been 99 shadow sightings and 17 cloudy days, the other 9 were not recorded.
